Steelcase has leased office space at IndoSpace Industrial and Logistics Park. Steelcase has leased over 50,000 sq. ft. of office space for setting up a production unit.

MUMBAI: Steelcase, the US based furniture major, has leased 50,000 sq. ft. of office space in Chakan. IndoSpace Chakan, joint venture of Everstone Group and Realterm Global. The project is executed by Realterm Everstone Development Management Ltd, their joint group.

IndoSpace Chakan is one of the latest commercial real estate projects which provide world class office spaces with better facilities and amenities.

IndoSpace Chakan will suit the needs of global companies like Steelcase, said Brian Oravec, Managing Partner of Realterm in a press release.

Mr. Oravec added that the entire project is structured in a way that it suits the expansion policies of the foreign retailers.

Once this unit is set up, this will be the first manufacturing unit of Steelcase in India. The group has production units in China and Malaysia. And so this will be their third production unit in Asia.

Steelcase leases office space in Pune to start first production unit in India.

In this production unit nearly 100 people will be employed. With this lease the company hopes to provide better services to its growing customer base in India.

Steelcase’s Asia-Pacific Regional President UliGwinner says that the company hopes to be where their customers are. This is necessary for the group to be where their customers are so as to provide them better services and products. He adds that this investment is for long term.

Mr. UliGwinner states that the Indian economy is growing very fast. This boosts market expansion. Many of the companies are expanding their business by leasing out bigger offices. Steelcase expects to optimize their productivity.

Many phases will be developed in IndoSpace Chakan. In the first phase many companies are operational. The leased space alone amounts to over 8 lakh sq. ft. of office space. The project spreads across 100 acres of land.
