Bangalore Authorities initiated e-payment of property tax to ease the troubles of the city residents. Still many Bangaloreans complain that the e-payment of property tax is not available to them.
BANGALORE: Though the system of e-payment of property tax was initiated in Bangalore for helping the residents, many complaints against the system came up.
Bangalore authority, while initiating e-payment of property tax, said that it will take away all hassles of the property owners. Yet, the situation is nothing different.
Many of the property owners are not able to pay the property tax online. Thus they are to make trip to the property tax office.
The collection of property tax for the year 2013-14 has started. But over half-a lakh people, in Byatarayanapura alone, are not able to pay the property tax online.
The situation of the residents in Vidyaranyapurais nothing different. The residents of this North-West area of Bangalore also have no access to e-payment of property tax. It is not available to them.
Last year too, we were not able to pay the property tax online. This year too, the story is not anything different, complained one resident of Vidyaranyapura. He owns a 2 BHK flat which he bought in the year 2005.
Another property owner said that he was suggested by the revenue officers to pay tax in the office, when he complained that he could not pay the tax online. He was from Dodda Bommasandra near Vidyaranyapura.
There are many who still do not go for e-payment of property tax. Many of them prefer to pay the tax directly in the office.
A BBMP official said that the authority was not able to provide PID numbers to over 50000 property owners in the revenue pockets of Byatarayanapura. He added that this was due to the election work. He added that measurements to solve this issue will be taken as soon as possible.
